Meet Dr. Steve Ellis

I have been very fortunate to have been a member of the profession of dentistry over the past 40 years. It is a profession that encompasses the fields of engineering, architecture, medicine, and artistry. This diversity allows for different experiences and challenges each day, and I’ve met these challenges with exuberance and a commitment to excellence. Looking back over my career I can truly say that I would not change a thing.

I was born and raised right here in Laurel and love living and practicing in this community. The relationships that I have been able to enjoy and experience have been such a blessing. We are now seeing second, third and even fourth generation families in our practice. It is humbling to know that so many families trust in me and my team to deliver the very best care.

Education and Continuing Education

My education in dentistry has provided me with a strong foundation of knowledge and experience. I began my formal education at the University of Mississippi, and continued on to receive my Master of Science degree in Microbiology from the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. My dental training was completed at the University of Tennessee Dental School where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.

I feel that constant attention to continuing education is very important. Dentistry is a constantly changing and evolving field that is both exciting and challenging. To keep up with the latest technology, I regularly continue my education, both at the local and national level. I am also an active member of the American Dental Association and the Mississippi Dental Association.

Outside the Office

Aside from my profession, my family and my faith take center stage. My wife, Judy, and I have two wonderful children. Mary Elizabeth is married to Charlie Day, and they live in California with their son, Russell. Our other daughter, Rebecca, is married to Price Johnson, and they live in Dallas with their son, Jack. When I have free time, I enjoy fishing, attending sport events, collecting civil war memorabilia and traveling to see my grandsons!
